About Plumelin

Plumelin is writing and worldbuilding software published by Flying Golem. It brings the manuscript, the story’s world, shared review and book preparation together in one web studio.

In Plumelin, your ideas, story world and reader feedback stay connected to the manuscript.

The novel and its world, in one project

Plumelin is for novelists, fiction writers, worldbuilders and the people who work with them: co-authors, beta readers, proofreaders, translators and editors.

Writing a book means moving between the detail of a sentence and the shape of a whole story. The outline, characters, places and reader feedback all belong to that work. Plumelin brings them together around the manuscript.

Write and keep track

Parts, chapters and scenes give the story its structure. Character entries, relationships and the timeline keep the story’s world available while you write.

Move the manuscript forward together

Comments and suggestions stay attached to the text. Only the project owner needs the Studio plan to invite collaborators. Invited collaborators can join with a Free, Author or Studio account.

Review a manuscript together

Prepare the book to be shared

Import lets you continue an existing manuscript. Layout and export tools then support review, submission or publication, with formats and options that depend on the selected plan.

Plumelin certification also connects a manuscript version to evidence from its documented writing process.

Context for drafting and revision

When a character changes, earlier scenes may need another look. When a beta reader spots an inconsistency, you need the passage and the notes behind it. Plumelin keeps this context with your manuscript to make revisions easier, while leaving you free to work in your own way.

The interface is available in French and English. The manuscript language is a separate choice, with writing and typography settings suited to the project.

Questions about Plumelin

How Plumelin began

Clément DUBOIS, founder of Plumelin.

Clément originally wanted to build a writing space for his partner, tailored to the way she wanted to work on her book. Plumelin began with that specific need.

The project then grew: why stop at drafting when a book also involves building a world, revising the text and preparing its layout? The long-term aim is to support writers throughout the creation of a book, developing the tools to meet professional standards.

The rise of AI-generated books raised another question: how could authors show the work behind their manuscripts? That question led to Plumelin certification. It connects a version of the text to evidence from its documented writing process, without guaranteeing that no AI was used or establishing copyright ownership.

Who publishes Plumelin?

Plumelin is published by Flying Golem, a French software company. The project combines user-centred design and engineering: understanding writers’ work, then building tools to support it.
